Exhibitions and fairs play one of the key roles in the process of the development of new markets and in the struggle to consolidate the competitive position of companies, regions and countries. According to statistics, the business conducted during such exhibitions and fairs constitutes almost a third of the companies’ turnover attending them.
Despite the dynamic, and even explosive – as far as Internet technologies are concerned, development of various communication tools intended for business promotion, the global and Russian experience has shown that exhibitions remain one of the most effective tools for interaction with the market. Even during the financial and economic crisis, exhibitions and congresses have remained the most significant, though not the most cost-based, tool which allows the entrepreneurial initiative to flourish.
The crisis which has forced some industries to reduce their output by 30-40% has had a minimal impact on the exhibition business. On average, output was down by 25% for the country as a whole. But the crisis has also helped to resolve some problems within the exhibition market – projects which did not benefit the market and only resulted in confusing the clients, offering services of inadequate quality, have ceased to exist, whereas projects which were popular with the market.
